Sewing 104: Understand Patterns and Fabric


Basic skills class for beginning sewers that is also part of our Stitch,Style,Create package. You can take one class, or all classes (which have a small discount).

This class will show you how to understand and use commercial PDF patterns and printed patterns covering these topics:

Choosing and preparing fabric; Size charts and flats vs. photo images; Grainline importance and bias cutting; Marking, pinning and tailor’s tacks for precision; The right tools for stitching, pinning and cutting; Changing pattern dimension (grading) to a larger or small size.

We will talk about various fabrics such as knits and wovens, how to choose according to drape, weight, width, etc., so you can choose what works best with your sewing project.

You will leave ready to become a more independent sewist and ready to join our Intermediate classes!
