Skirts With Pockets For Kids To Sew

40.00

Kids love to make skirts, especially with pockets! Your child can choose to make one midi-length skirt from fabrics such as medium-weight quilting cotton fabric, medium-weight denim or knit fabric.
We will be sewing an elastic-waist skirt with pockets, hidden or patch style.

Perfect for beginning sewists that know how to thread and use a sewing machine.
In this class they will come away with a new skirt and know how to:
Sew and finish seams, add pockets, make an elastic casing waistband, measure for the right length, create and add a name tag that’s sewn on, and sew a hem.

Ages 8 and up with beginner sewing machine skills.

Supply List:
1 package of 1” wide elastic for the waistband
1 spool of all-purpose thread
sewing machine (or rent one of ours)
1 1/2 yards of medium-weight cotton woven fabric, like quilting cotton or 1 yard of stretch light-weight denim or 2-way stretch jersey knit with some cotton blended in. (FYI, 2-way stretch only stretches from side to side and perfect for skirts. 4-way stretches side to side and up and down, which is better for t-shirts and performance wear, not skirts.
