Joggers
Bring some comfort to your wardrobe as Instructor Jamie Hevener teaches you the basics of sewing joggers.
This is a great class if you’ve never worked with knit fabric.
SKILLS YOU WILL GAIN:
sewing with stretchy fabrics,
using a twin needle
Getting the correct settings for the type of fabric you use
prevent seam puckers and twisted hems
eliminate skipped stitches and keep your fabric from getting jammed into the feed dogs
measuring for a proper fit,
creating pockets and sewing an elastic waistband.
SKILLS YOU ALREADY NEED TO HAVE:
How to set up, use, and change settings of a home sewing machine
knowledge of how to work with a commercial pattern for a garment and experience of having sewn a garment from a pattern,
How to select the right fabric to determine the appropriateness for a pair of joggers or pants.
BRING TO CLASS: Your sewing machine (or rent ours for $10), ballpoint needle, 1½ yd of 2" non-roll or woven elastic, 2¼ yd of stretch knit fabric with at least 25% 4‑way stretch (e.g., French terry, heavy cotton lycra, or sweatshirt fabric with lycra). Also bring pins, a marking pen, a tape measure, a rotary cutter, fabric shears, and all‑purpose thread.
One of these: the Brassie Jogger for women or the Iron Jogger for men sewing pattern, both by Greenstyle Patterns, printed and assembled at home, or a printed A0 copy.
Don’t have time to shop, or not sure which kind of fabric to get? Get a jogger kit.
Joggers Kit Options: Choose from cotton stretch-terry cloth fabric, cotton sweatshirt fleece for $37.50, or cotton jersey for $30.93 (a lighter-weight option), with waistband elastic and all-purpose thread.
Scheduled and Flex-Schedule Options: If you select a Flex-Schedule option, your instructor will email you to coordinate dates and times that work best for everyone. These are for you if you don’t see any scheduled dates that work for you and/or your group.
$120 for two 3-hour classes + $30.93 - $37.50 for the optional kit
$200 for Flex-Schedule Private, One-On-One class + $30.93 - $37.50 for the optional kit
You must know how to set up and operate a sewing machine and how to use a sewing pattern.
Ages 15+ and adults
