Bag Making Course: Level 1

from $180.00

Interested in making a variety of bags? This class series explores Svetlana Sotak’s book “That Handmade Touch” by making three of the easier bags and pouches detailed in its pages. You will make a pouch, a handy wall pocket, and a stylish project bag.

You’ll build skills in bag-making sewing notions, materials, interfacings and sewing techniques. You’ll have the option of using leather to instantly “upscale” a simple bag in to a designer look.

We’ll start with a handy and stylish Pleated Pouch, then make a very structured Wall Pocket and wrap up with a gorgeous On-The-Go Project Bag which is a very popular bucket style bag.

This is an excellent next step after you’ve finished your Stitch, Style, Create Series. You must have full knowledge of your machine (how to wind and load a bobbin, how to thread a needle, how to sew straight and zigzag stitches, how to change your sewing machine needle, how to adjust machine tension, etc.) and have successfully sewn
basic projects such as a pillowcase or a simple pouch or tote. If you need to develop those skills first please look at our Introduction to Machine Sewing and/or Stitch-Style-Create classes!
