The Sewing Hive isn’t a fabric store; it’s a place to learn and grow sewing skills, sourcing fabrics, and pattern fitting & making.
What we do goes beyond sewing lessons. It’s about creating a community of people seeking better ways to express their individuality. We are an ongoing resource, here to listen, learn, and help.
We support our community through Sewing For Good (hospital stuffies, chemo hats, bedside baskets), Period Pantry (sustainable fabric pads), school fundraisers, fashion events, and by encouraging students to shop local.
In 2018, Gail Kelley and Jamie Hevener met when Gail began teaching at a local fabric shop. Jamie’s engaging beginner class—where students proudly made pajama pants—impressed Gail. After coffee and several meetings, they discovered a shared vision: creating a dedicated sewing studio in Columbus focused on garments—The Sewing Hive.
