Stitch-Style-Create- Learn To Sew Course

from $250.00

Learn how to sew.

5 Lessons: Each lesson is 2-3 hours. (We go at YOUR pace)

Do you have a sewing machine still in the box because you don’t know how to use it? These lessons are designed for the absolute beginner that takes you from not understanding your machine to being able to sew basic projects independently.

You will make a standard-sized Pillowcase, Drawstring, Zipper Bag, Lounge Pants, or Shorts and learn how to read a commercial pattern.

PLEASE BRING BRING THESE ITEMS TO THE CLASSES:
Please bring your sewing machine, all-purpose thread, and any basic sewing tools you have each week, or you may rent one of ours for $10 a class.
Week 1, Pillowcase Project:
your sewing machine, all-purpose thread and
3/4 yard of medium-weight cotton for the base and 1/4 yard of coordinating medium-weight cotton for the cuff.

Week 2, Drawstring Bag Project:

Three 1/3-yard pieces of medium-weight woven fabric for the lining and exterior fabrics
1 1/2 yards of ribbon or cording for the drawstring

Week 3, Zipper Bag Project:
your sewing machine, all-purpose thread and
zipper foot attachment of your machine accessories
1/3 yard canvas weight fabric for exterior
1/3 yard medium-weight cotton for the interior

1/3 yard fusible fleece

Week 4, PJ Pants Project:
Your sewing machine, all-purpose thread, and
Medium-weight woven cotton: Look at size charts on the pattern to determine yardage quantity
One 1/2-yard of 3/4” wide woven elastic for the waist
PJ Bottoms Pattern Choices:

Week 5, Pattern Basics:
For the last class, we’ll go over how to use a commercial pattern and how to get the right materials, plus make a small sample pack of examples you make and take home common techniques pattern makers assume you already know, so all you’ll need to bring is your machine.

As a courtesy, we offer optional kits for this class for $60, including everything on this list except sewing machines and tools.
